Miyazaki’s high-flying adventure, what an interesting film! Set against the backdrop of the Adriatic Sea between World Wars, the film follows the charismatic and pig-faced pilot, Porco Rosso, as he navigates the skies in his red seaplane. Beyond its aerial dogfights and daring escapades, "Porco Rosso" delves into themes of identity, war, and the allure of the skies. With its unique atmosphere, brilliant animation, and Miyazaki's signature storytelling, "Porco Rosso" is one of my favourite Ghibli films - I highly recommend it!

"Howl's Moving Castle" (2004)

Another Miyazaki masterpiece, you don’t say! This wonderful tale follows Sophie, a young woman cursed by a witch, as she seeks refuge in the eccentric and mobile castle owned by the wizard Howl. It is a world of fantastical creatures, riveting transformations, and a narrative that beautifully incorporates together themes of love, self-discovery, and the consequences of war. "Howl's Moving Castle" exemplifies Ghibli's ability to transport audiences to extraordinary and even impossible worlds while delivering very real, powerful and emotionally resonant storytelling.
